Owen Homes, a design + build firm, specializes in custom homes and renovation projects in the greater Kansas City area. Our team is committed to providing an exceptional construction experience by offering partnership in design and delivering excellence in craftsmanship during every phase of our high-quality, highly-customized projects.

History

Founded by Luke Owen in 2004, he later brought on long-time employees Matt Owen and Charielle Sowers as co-owners of Owen Homes. For all three, their passion for home design and building was developed at an early age.

Luke and Matt grew up in residential construction by framing homes for their father’s construction company. This inspired Luke to tailor his education and work experience so that when he graduated from William Jewell College, he could start his own business – Owen Homes. Matt continued working for his father’s business while partnering with Luke on many projects and then officially joined the Owen Homes’ team in 2010. Charielle’s degree from University of Missouri-Kansas City is in marketing and small business, and her family has been in the construction industry for generations. She’s always taken a special interest in home building, so in 2013 when there was an open position for a marketing director, she knew Owen Homes was the perfect fit.

Together we have developed a team of professionals and a systemized design + build process to offer personally-crafted blueprints, highly-customized interior design and full-service project management with a specialty in acreage builds. We approach each project as a collaborative partnership with a strong emphasis on communication; homeowners can expect that teamwork mentality to begin from the initial conversation.

 

Philosophy

While functionality and cohesive design are a large priority, we are equally focused on building high-performance, healthy homes that feature a superior building envelope, upgraded windows, doors and insulation packages and carefully planned mechanical systems throughout the home. Our design + build team continues to bring a new and fresh perspective to custom built homes and renovations by incorporating new technology, materials, design and styles.

This includes using new building practices and installation methods to embrace the growing need for sustainable and energy-efficient homes. We also have experience building homes that achieve LEED for Homes and ENERGYSTAR certified new homes, both third-party certification systems that ensure high-performance green homes are energy and resource efficient.

Paired with high standards for quality craftsmanship and durable materials used throughout every phase of construction, Owen Homes is committed to the details. Knowing how important your home is to you and your family – we treat each project as if it were our own.

 

Design + Build

All of our designs seamlessly blend unique architectural elements, creative use of space and personalized details to create a truly customized project. We aim to develop a solid understanding of your vision and goals for the home, property and budget so we can tailor discussions, present options and navigate the process to best align. Our design + build team will collaborate with you to design floorplans, create layouts and finalize the interior and exterior details. This approach gives you a hands-on experience and the ability to control your investment. It’s important to our team that we are all on the same page, same team from day one, working together to create the perfect, comfortable space you’ll soon call “home.”
